Taipei City team wins big at world children's games in Bahrain

New Delhi, India, July 4 (CNA) A Taipei City team shone at the June 28-July 3 International Children's Games in Manama, Bahrain, taking seven gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals.
The Taipei City team of 21 athletes won the medals in the track and field, swimming, table tennis and taekwondo categories at the games that brought together athletes from 68 cities in 31 countries.
The Taipei City athletes performed particularly well in swimming, winning three gold, five silver and five bronze medals in various divisions.
The other four gold medals were clinched in the men's 400-meter relay, shot put, taekwondo men's over 55-kg and women's 51-55kg.
The other four silvers were won in the men's high jump, men's 100-meters sprint, taekwondo men's 47-51kg and women's 47-51kg.
The other two bronzes were taken in the swimming 400m mixed relay and the table tennis women's singles.
Yang Tzi-hsien was the biggest winner among the Taiwanese athletes, winning two golds, two silvers and a bronze in various swimming events.
After the games, the team, led by Kang Tsung-hu, director of the city's Department of Education, arrived in India Saturday to conduct education exchanges.
Kang said the city will send young athletes to more competitions to allow them to gain international competition experience.
