Taiwanese players win Taipei ladies tennis doubles title
Taipei, Nov. 7 (CNA) Taiwanese pair Chang Kai-chen and Chuang Chia-jung comfortably beat compatriot Hsieh Su-wei and Sandia Mirza of India 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the 2010 OEC Taipei Ladies Open tennis doubles title Sunday.

Chuang, champion in 2008 and 2009, became the first player in the tournament to win three doubles titles in a row with three different partners.

"I just step onto court and make each play with my heart," Chuang said in a post-game interview.

Hsieh and Mirza started the match in trouble when returning volleys and were broken in the third game before levelling at 4-4 on Chuang's double fault.

Chang and Chuang then broke in the ninth game, when Mirza over-hit a forehand, before taking advantage of their next service game, wrapping up the first set 6-4.

At the start of the second set, Chang and Chuang quickened their pace to break two consecutive games, the fifth and the seventh, allowing the pair to pull out a 5-2 lead.

But the local partners showed some nervousness in the decisive game, making two errors in a row after leading 40-15. They soon cooled, and closed the match with Chang's game-winning volley.

Earlier the same day, China's Peng Shuai, who had entered the tournament for the first time, defeated Japan's Ayumi Morita 6-1, 6-4 to seize the single's title and receive a prize of US$15,200.
