Taiwan's figure skaters win one gold, two silvers at Asian Games

Guangzhou, Nov. 26 (CNA) Taiwan's Wang Hsiao-chu won a gold medal in women's figure skating in the roller sports competition at the Asian Games on Friday, and the country's skaters also won silver in the men's and pairs events on the final full day of competition in Guangzhou. Wang's victory was Taiwan's 13th gold at the Asian Games as of Friday late afternoon. Wang scored 247.2 points in the free skating long program Friday, the highest among eight competitors, to add to the narrow lead she held over China's Dong Zhidou after Thursday's short program, in which she scored a 79.6. Her combined score of 326.8 edged Dong's 322 to give her gold. In the men's event, Taiwan's Yeh Chia-chen won silver by taking second in both the short and long programs. Shingo Nishiki of Japan won gold, beating Yeh by a combined 8.4 points. In the pairs event, Taiwan's Weng Tzu-hsia and Chen Li-hsin held a narrow 0.2-point lead over China's Lin Yawen and Tang Yunqin after the short program Thursday, but the Chinese pair outperformed them in the long free skating program to snatch gold.
