Taiwanese Go player wins title of Kisei
Taipei, March 11 (CNA) Taiwanese Go Player Cho U, who is based in Japan, defeated Yuta Iyama Friday to defend his title of Kisei and win its highest cash prize of 45 million yen (NT$16 million).

The 31-year-old, who currently holds the major Go titles of Judan and Oza, beat his Japanese opponent 4-2 in the two-day tournament. The match was not affected by the magnitude 8.9 earthquake that hit Japan on the same day.

Cho won the 30th NEC Cup by defeating Keigo Yamashita of Japan last Saturday, and he will duel with Iyama again on March 24 to defend his Judan title.

Another Taiwanese player, Shei Imin, will compete for the second round of Japanese Female Meijin on March 15. The tournament was rescheduled due to the earthquake. (By Oscar Wu and Maia Huang) enditem/ly
