Taiwanese businessman wins award in Britain
London, June 4 (CNA) A businessman from Taiwan became the first Asian winner of the prestigious Comms Business Awards in Britain Thursday.

The award presentation was held in London and Jason Tsai, who is the winner of the Channel Entrepreneur of the Year, was honored along with 18 winners of awards in other categories.

Miles Bossom, managing director of the awards, said Tsai was chosen from among 14 candidates and he added that the fierce competition among the candidates underscores the excellence of Tsai's company's service and the high quality of its products.

Tsai founded Enta Technologies Ltd. -- the name of which is a combination of England and Taiwan -- in 1990, distributing computer components from his garage at his home in England.

The company rapidly grew into one of Britain's leading IT distributors.

By 1995, when Enta moved into purpose-built premises, Tsai spotted an opportunity in the market to provide Internet access services, so he set up a second business, Entanet International Ltd., which has grown into a leading voice and data communications provider.

In 1999, he set up his third company, Entacall Telecommunications Ltd., to provide traditional telecom services to his existing Entanet reseller partners.

Then, in 2003, he established his fourth business, Entamedia Ltd., as a separate company providing marketing and design services to its sister companies and external clients.

In an interview with CNA, Tsai said the award is significant to him as it confirms his many years working in Britain, especially as he was the only Asian winner at this year's awards.

Addressing Taiwanese youths who would like to start their own businesses in Britain, Tsai advised them to swim with the tide, choose the right trade, learn the local culture and assimilate into local society.
