Taipei, June 26 (CNA) Kinmen County officials have examined and analyzed more than 130 traditional residential communities in the outlying county in order to work out a comprehensive strategy for the preservation and reinvigoration of these traditional settlements, a county official said Sunday.

Kinmen has over 130 settlements, including traditional Minnan ancient houses, ancestral shrines, townhouses and temples, which are deemed as essential cultural assets of the county.

For the preservation of its traditional buildings and villages, the county's Cultural Affairs Bureau has designated 60 heritage sites and has recorded 150 historic buildings and cultural landmarks.

Moreover, the county registered Kinmen's Qionglin settlement as a historic settlement in 2012 and passed a plan for its preservation and reinvigoration in 2014, according to the official.

Earlier this year, the Cultural Affairs Bureau also began to perform biological and microbiological risk assessments and other heritage site protection measures for the Qionglin settlement, with funding from the county government's budget and from the central government, the official added.
