(中央社財經訊息服務20251103 17:05:17)The Bank of Taiwan (BOT) entrusted the Central Mint to design and cast the Proof Silver Coin for the Year of the Horse, the 7th coin in the Chinese Zodiac Series. This exquisite coin designed with a majestic galloping horse is an excellent addition to any collection or a perfect gift for a loved one. Only 50,000 coins are available. Sale of this silver coin will commence at Land Bank of Taiwan, Chunghwa Post, Hua Nan Bank, Taiwan Business Bank, ESUN Bank, and Taipei Star Bank at the same time on November 3 for NT$2,460 each, the coin would be an excellent way of starting the Year of the Horse with a collectible item or gift. (The Bank will not repurchase this item.)
The theme of the silver coin, “Gallop Toward New Milestones,” depicts a spirited horse galloping through mountainous terrain blanketed with lush clovers, representing courage, perseverance, and unwavering determination. Exquisitely rendered in fine relief and accented with gold gilding, the horse radiates an image of leadership, ambition, and dynamic energy. The vibrant green and white clovers blooming beneath the horse’s hooves symbolize enduring blessings, prosperity, and renewed hope for fortune. This contrasts starkly with the brilliant silver proof surface of superb craftsmanship. More than a symbol of good fortune and success, this design conveys the aspiration that, with the racing momentum, one can stride boldly into a new chapter of accomplishment in the year ahead.

The front of the coin features the Gongbi work of Ko-chi Chang with lychee, as a symbol of booming business in the upcoming year. The plumpness of the fruit is faithfully reproduced in color on the proof-quality silver surface, enhancing both visual depth and chromatic richness. Apart from a portrait of King Charles III, the Head of the Commonwealth, the coin is engraved with the weight (1oz) and fineness (Ag 999). Each silver coin is placed in a specially designed colorless acrylic case for perfect presentation. The well-made cases provide protection and elevate the coins to a work of art.
