Unlimited International Cooperation and Borderless Cultural Exchange STUDY IN AUSTRIA Speech for the Department of German at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages

(中央社訊息服務20201016 09:42:17)The Department of German at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages invited Director Roland Rudorfer of Austrian Office Taipei to give a speech on Austria and Its Educational Opportunities – STUDY IN AUSTRIA, in order to share Austrian information about study, history and culture with students and faculty in the Department of German.

Austrian Office Taipei focuses on improving cultural and economic relationships between Austria and Taiwan, providing consular services related to visa and passport, and promoting studying in, and travelling to, Austria.

Director Rudorfer introduced Austria from five aspects during his speech: geography and humanities, economic system, tourism, educational system and working holiday, for students and faculty to understand Austrian organizational structure, tradition, history and spirit. Studying in Austria was elaborated in terms of higher education system, application procedures, local living expenses, other necessary costs and scholarship application procedures to allow students to become familiar with Austria and create an engaging atmosphere. The Director also provided working holiday information which is of the most interest to young people. Taiwan annually issues one-year working holiday visas to a maximum of 75 Austrians aged 18 to 30 and vice versa. Please visit the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for more details.

Director Rudorfer took a walking tour of the campus and the office of the Department of German with Director Chia-Pin Chang and students of the Department of German before the speech. He gave nearly 20 classic works of literature which have won the Austrian Book Prize (Österreichischer Buchpreis) as a present to enrich the collection of the Learning Resource Center of the Department of German for offering self-learning materials to students.

The event was co-organized by European Union Center. Director Armin Ibitz of the European Union Center stated that the interaction event creates a better understanding of learning and cultural differences between Taiwan and Austria; Wenzao is expected to expand its partnership with Austrian universities to faciliate effective interaction.
