(中央社訊息服務20240329 09:35:21)The “2024 Slow Arrowhead Bamboo Travel - Arrowhead Bamboo Feast” event was held today (24th) at the Tafalong Square in Guangfu Township. The arrowhead bamboo feast featured a hundred tables, offering a variety of dishes made with local specialty produce, allowing consumers to enjoy local mountain and sea cuisine. In addition to experiencing the fun of harvesting, roasting, and peeling bamboo, there were also indigenous agricultural markets and displays of new agricultural machinery, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

County Mayor Hsu Chen-Wei stated in her speech that the annual Arrowhead Bamboo Feast combines tourism, travel, and experiential marketing. The promotion of agriculture involves not only producers and consumers but also goes deeper into education, learning, and feedback. The promotion of rural bamboo experiences allows participants to experience the hardships of farming, promote local high-quality agricultural products, and inherit the spirit of sustainable agricultural development and reverence for the land. County Mayor Hsu also invited everyone to support Hualien’s local agricultural specialty products, respond to carbon neutrality, reduce carbon footprints, and promote the vigorous development of tourism and economic industries in Hualien.

Legislator Fu Kun-Chi pointed out that Taiwan’s largest arrowhead bamboo production base is in Hualien County, with large planting areas in Wanrong, Guangfu, and Zhuoxi. Recently, the Guangfeng Farmers Association brought arrowhead bamboo to the Legislative Yuan for a marketing press conference, inviting legislators to promote and market the natural, non-toxic, and organic best and healthiest Hualien agricultural specialty products nationwide for everyone to share. Legislator Fu also hoped that major constructions in Hualien, such as National Freeway No. 6, the island-wide expressway network, and the Hualien-Taitung Expressway, could be implemented to achieve transportation equality, allowing Eastern Taiwan and all Taiwanese people to enjoy a common living circle, not only becoming the strongest support for the people of Hualien but also making the Taiwanese family happier and more complete.

Chang Ming-Fa, Secretary-General of the Guangfeng Farmers Association, said that arrowhead bamboo is an important seasonal agricultural product in Tafalong, with a planting area of about 200 hectares. Arrowhead bamboo is rich in vitamins, proteins, dietary fiber, and other nutrients. They are grown in a friendly manner without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, making them very safe and healthy food. Through annual marketing and promotion, it is hoped that the high-quality agricultural specialty products produced by Hualien’s good mountains and waters can be promoted.

In recent years, the Amis people in Tafalong, Guangfu Township, have used modern management methods for cultivation and improvement, not only significantly improving the quality of arrowhead bamboo but also overcoming the past difficulties in harvesting the bamboo. Tafalong has become the most famous arrowhead bamboo production area. Recently, arrowhead bamboo has been sprouting vigorously. Whether wild or cultivated bamboo, they do not require the use of chemical fertilizers. From sprouting to harvest, it only takes a few days, which eliminates concerns about pests, diseases, and pesticide residues in the bamboo.
