(中央社訊息服務20251015 18:43:37)The Yunlin County Government has officially announced the establishment of the 233.16-hectare Yunlin County Gukeng Organic Agriculture Promotion Zone. This significant milestone marks not only the county's commitment to promoting organic agriculture, but also the nation's largest organic agriculture promotion zone. In addition to enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products and safeguarding food safety, the initiative also supports Yunlin’s progress toward several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Life on Land.
The Yunlin County Government stated that the Organic Agriculture Promotion Act stipulates that local authorities must establish promotion zones based on the conditions of their jurisdictions and encourage participation from private cooperatives. In addition to increasing subsidies for organic farmers in these zones, the central government will also provide funding for large-scale facilities, prioritize basic environmental improvements, and expand access to diverse agricultural resources and support programs to further promote the development of the organic agriculture industry.
Wei Sheng-de (魏勝德), Director of the Agriculture Department, Yunlin County, stated that the Yunlin County Gukeng Organic Agriculture Promotion Zone, located in Yulin’s Gukeng Township, is operated by Fuyah International Co., Ltd., integrating local farmers, production and marketing teams, and cooperatives to promote the Sixth Industrialization. The establishment of the zone received full support from local farmers, demonstrating their enthusiasm and shared commitment to promoting organic agriculture.
Since its founding in 2008, the Fuyah company has focused on promoting organic products, establishing logistics bases in northern, central, and southern Taiwan, and has obtained Tse-Xin Organic Certification. Initially, it primarily supplied its products to Leezen Organic Store, later expanding to school lunches, organic supermarkets, and large-scale hypermarkets. In 2017, it established a logistics center and a distribution center in Gukeng, shipping local organic agricultural products to markets nationwide. The company also developed processed products such as organic edamame, frozen broccoli, and ready-to-eat corn on the cob, which have become popular with consumers.
Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) emphasized that the Gukeng Organic Agriculture Promotion Zone will be the core area for continued expansion of organic farming. It will promote biodiversity in farmland ecosystems, support food and agriculture education, and establish an internationally connected organic demonstration site. The Gukeng Organic Agriculture Promotion Zone will not only help increase the added value of agriculture but also drive environmental education, rural tourism, and ESG collaboration with businesses, fostering sustainable agriculture that balances ecological conservation with economic development.
