(中央社訊息服務20251128 10:28:20)To strengthen tourism ties between Taiwan and South Korea, senior representatives from the Incheon Tourism Organization, Deputy Director Chae Ja-Hee and Section Chief Kim Hye-Jeong, visited Hualien today, November 10, for an official meeting with Hualien County Mayor Hsu Chen-Wei. During the visit, both parties signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding to promote mutual tourism development and celebrate the upcoming launch of direct flights between Incheon and Hualien. Lee Chun-Seong, Executive Director of the 1883 Incheon Culture and Tourism Center, also attended the signing as a witness.

Mayor Hsu highlighted Hualien’s stunning natural landscapes and rich Indigenous cultures. She noted that Hualien is one of Taiwan’s most iconic international tourist destinations. This partnership with the Incheon Tourism Organization marks an important step toward expanding into the Korean travel market and demonstrates the county’s strong commitment to growing international tourism. In the future, the two sides will work together in areas such as tourism product development, information sharing, and brand promotion. They will also continue to support cooperation in direct flight operations, cultural exchange, sports tourism, and educational visits.

Deputy Director Chae observed that Korean travelers have shown growing interest in eastern Taiwan’s nature and cultural experiences. She said that Hualien offers an especially appealing combination of scenery and heritage. The launch of direct flights will make travel easier for Korean visitors and provide new momentum for tourism exchange between the two regions.

The Incheon to Hualien route is scheduled to begin service on November 13. The inaugural ceremony will feature the first official collaboration between Hualien and Incheon, including a performance by the BISANG Taekwondo Demonstration Team from Korea. Korean dignitaries, travel industry representatives, and YouTubers have also been invited to join the celebration and support joint promotion. The event will open a new chapter in tourism, inviting travelers to start their journey in Incheon and meet each other in Hualien.
