Jehovah’s Witnesses Official Website Contains Advice for Lasting Happiness

發稿時間:2024/03/21 09:30:20

(中央社訊息服務20240321 09:30:20) “My childhood was anything but happy,” says Miss Yang from Kaohsiung. “My father would become violent after drinking and often beat my mother, younger brother and myself. This situation persisted until I moved in with my grandfather after graduation. I grew up resentful and fearful of my father. I longed for a happy home.”

Miss Yang is not alone. Although Taiwan was ranked as the fourth happiest country in Asia and 27th happiest in the world, according to the 2023 World Happiness Report released by the United Nations, how to find happiness as individuals or families is still a topic of concern for many. To raise awareness of the social dangers posed by chronic unhappiness and to “promote the happiness and well-being of all people,” the International Day of Happiness will be observed on March 20, 2024.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are known for using the Bible as a manual for living. They believe that this contributes to lasting happiness.

“Studying the Bible helped me to improve my outlook,” says Miss Yang, who is now one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, “I realized that God is a heavenly father who deeply cares for me. This allowed me to let go of my resentment and gradually leave behind my childhood trauma. I try to remember a scripture from the Bible book of Isaiah: ‘He gives power to the tired one and full might to those lacking strength.’ This helps me when I have negative or pessimistic thoughts because I know I can pray to God for strength to deal with any situation that arises. This is why I’m able to maintain my happiness despite my upbringing.”

JW.ORG, the official website of Jehovah’s Witnesses, features helpful resources collected under the heading “Peace and Happiness.” Contained therein are categories that address specific challenges, such as:

• Coping with Tragedy.
• Employment & Money.
• Physical & Mental Health.
• Relationships.
• Habits & Addictions.

Within each of these categories are additional subcategories that contain numerous Bible-based articles and videos designed to promote sustainable happiness no matter a person’s circumstances.

“Jehovah’s Witnesses want everyone to be happy,” says Miss Yang. “That is why we visit our neighbors; we want them to discover for themselves that the Bible can give them the tools they need to lead happy lives. All the answers are there, and we can help you find them.”
