2025 Taiwan Coffee Festival to take place on Nov. 1
(中央社訊息服務20251016 18:26:13)The 2025 Taiwan Coffee Festival will kick off with a grand opeing at the Gukeng Green Tunnel on Nov. 1. County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) joined Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), legislators Chang Chia-jun (張嘉郡), and Hsu Yu-chen (許宇甄) in a livestream on Sept. 18 to share Yunlin coffee, co-branded dishes, and exciting coffee festival events. The festival invites everyone to Yunlin to savor authentic, delicious Taiwanese coffee and experience the leisurely and wonderful lifestyle.
The livestream took place in the Legislative Yuan’s reception room. Speaker Han Kuo-yu humorously commented at the start of the broadcast that he had gotten a new hairstyle specifically to promote Yunlin coffee, and it had a positive effect. He, along with Magistrate Chang, Legislators Chang Chia-jun, and Hsu Yu-chen, sampled coffee and co-branded delicacies while discussing Yunlin County’s rich coffee culture and the highlights of this year’s Coffee Festival.
Speaker Han noted that Magistrate Chang is diligent and dedicated to her work, promoting Yunlin’s agricultural products and supporting farmers’ economic development, earning her widespread recognition. He also emphasized that her visit to the Legislative Yuan on Sept. 18 to promote Yunlin’s local coffee and share its high-quality coffee is a truly good thing. He invited the public to enjoy Yunlin coffee and attend the 2025 Taiwan Coffee Festival.
Magistrate Chang stated that Yunlin’s Gukeng coffee is renowned worldwide for its rich flavor and Yunlin is considered the birthplace of Taiwanese coffee. This year’s Taiwan Coffee Festival, themed “Coffee for Life,” has invited over 100 coffee producers from 13 counties and cities to share their unique coffees, using different roasting techniques to satisfy people’s taste buds with a variety of coffees.
Magistrate Chang noted that this year’s Coffee Festival marks the first cross-county collaboration. Lienchiang County and the Gukeng Farmers’ Association have collaborated to create a “Sunshine Tipsy” gift box, combining Yunlin’s local premium coffee with Matsu’s signature wines. This collaboration between the two regions creates more than just a gift box; it represents a cultural dialogue that transcends time and space, showcasing the diverse landscape of Taiwan’s agricultural and culinary culture.
This year, the festival will launch a special Coffee Map stamp collection event, allowing visitors to follow the map and deeply experience Yunlin’s coffee culture. Simply collect three or more stamps from participating Coffee Map stores, and then attend the Coffee Festival on Nov. 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 to receive a limited-edition sample cup made from coffee grounds (while supplies last).
The county government also launched the “Coffee City Stories - Find Old Photos” campaign, inviting the public to submit treasured images from the history of Yunlin coffee, as well as photos and stories from recent coffee festivals, to the official Taiwan Coffee Festival website. This initiative aims to showcase shared memories across generations and deepen the cultural value of Yunlin coffee.
County Legislator Chang Chia-jun recommended the Gukeng Coffee and Gukeng Vanilla puffs from Donghe Puff, a shop featured on the “Coffee Map,” during a livestream, as well as the Gukeng pineapple jam-infused madeleine and coffee cookies from Seventeen Time Cafe. Legislator Hsu Yu-chen also showcased the chocolates and handmade cookies from the Tukuji Cocoa Farm, praising the unique charm of local cocoa.
In addition, Chang Chia-yuan (張嘉元), the owner of the Otto Tunan Coffee House, brought vanilla caramel pudding and vanilla Basque cake made with local Yunlin ingredients, perfectly demonstrating the pairing of coffee and desserts; Lai Shu-hua (賴淑華), director of the Gukeng Farmers Association, presented the Caoling Shibi “Songyue Coffee” Geisha beans, which won the first prize in the Yunlin County Domestic Boutique Coffee Bean Evaluation, allowing the guests to experience the charming flavor of premium coffee.
Wei Sheng-de, director of the county’s Department of Agriculture, stated that the 2025 Taiwan Coffee Festival will be held at the Gukeng Green Tunnel Park on Nov. 1 and 2, and from Nov. 7 to 9. Over the five days, the festival will feature different themes and invites the public to gather in Gukeng to enjoy the rich aroma of coffee.
