Yunlin County honors achievements in food and agriculture education with inaugural contribution award

(中央社訊息服務20251106 10:09:52)The Yunlin County Government awarded the inaugural “Yunlin County Food and Agriculture Education Outstanding Contribution Award” to the winners at the County Government’s Public Hall on April 17. In order to showcase the promotion results of 2024 and let more people understand the development of Yunlin County’s food and agriculture education, the “Yunlin County Food and Agriculture Education Achievement Exhibition” was held at the Public Hall on the first floor from April 17 to 30. Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh Shu-ya (謝淑亞) and Director of the Agriculture Department Wei Sheng-de (魏勝德) sincerely invited all walks of life to visit.

Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh Shu-ya stated that Yunlin County, as a major agricultural county with abundant agricultural resources, promotes food and agriculture education not only as a responsibility but also as an investment in the next generation. In 2024, the county government actively promoted this initiative through various channels and, for the first time, held the Outstanding Contribution Awards for Food and Agriculture Education to recognize and identify outstanding individuals and groups. An exhibition also showcased these valuable experiences and achievements, hoping to increase public awareness of Yunlin County’s commitment to food and agriculture education.

Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh stated that the winners of the inaugural Yunlin County Outstanding Contribution Award for Food and Agriculture Education include: Individual Category: Lin Hsiao-hui of Lin Ji Vegetable and Fruit Juice; Dairy Veterinarian Kung Chien-Chia; and Yan Chu-ying of First Manpower Workshop; Corporate Category: Yunlin County Farmers’ Association; Feng Tay Cultural and Educational Foundation; and Dounan Farmers’ Association of Yunlin County; Private Enterprise Category: Taro Education Trading Company; Huanyun Co., Ltd.; and Zhan Shian Agricultural and Biotechnology Co., Ltd.; School and Kindergarten Category: Douliu City Baojang Elementary School; Beigang Township Chaoyang Elementary School; and Kouhu Township Wenguang Elementary School. The Deputy County Magistrate expressed gratitude for the efforts of each award winner (institution) and expressed hope that this award will inspire more participation and continued efforts for a sustainable environment.

Director of the Department of Agriculture, Wei Sheng-de, stated that this exhibition not only summarizes the achievements of the 2024 Food and Agriculture Education Promotion Program but also serves as a starting point for continued development. By showcasing outstanding cases and excellent venues, the exhibition hopes to attract more people to join the promotion of food and agriculture education, contributing to the agricultural development of Yunlin County and the healthy growth of the next generation.

Director Wei noted that the Yunlin County Government has actively promoted food and agriculture education since 2024. In addition to bringing food and agriculture professionals to schools, the government has also focused on optimizing food and agriculture education venues, offering subsidies for optimizing food and agriculture field equipment and lesson plans. A total of 18 venues have applied. Promoting food and agriculture education requires the participation of all sectors. Through this exhibition, we hope to help schools better understand the importance and implementation of food and agriculture education, thereby bringing excellent food and agriculture education concepts and practices back to campuses to benefit more students.

The Yunlin County Government sincerely invites all citizens and schools interested in food and agriculture education to visit the “Yunlin County Food and Agriculture Education Achievement Exhibition” from April 17 to 30, 2025, in the accessible exhibition space on the first floor of the county government building to witness Yunlin County’s efforts and achievements in food and agriculture education. Applications for the 2025 Yunlin County Food and Agriculture Education Field Optimization Subsidy began in May. Three information sessions and field self-checks will be held for prospective farmers.
