Taiwan Mobile passes official 5G SA technology certification

(中央社訊息服務20211022 14:05:17)October 22, 2021 – Taiwan Mobile Co., Ltd. announced passing National Communication Council's 5G SA system certification, being the first officially certified telecommunication company to provide advanced SA services.

SA is a pure 5G core network, which is also the first mobile core network technology to be based on cloud. This is a key step toward softwarization, cloud-based computing, and virtualization. Taiwan Mobile will focus its effort on creating a 5G network for private corporations during the initial deployment of aforementioned technology, pointed out Taiwan Mobile Chief Technology Officer Tom Koh.

Globally, Taiwan Mobile is also a forerunner in adopting the technology and has already obtained a technological advantage in Taiwan. SA technology can unleash the full potential of 5G, and this not only opens a new chapter in the history of Taiwan's 5G technology services, but is also expected to accelerate the development of Taiwan's many industries.

5G SA technology does not rely on the existing 4G framework and surpasses the current Non-Standalone (NSA) network, a service providing lower latencies, network slicing and other innovative network services to allow corporations, start-ups and individual users to enjoy the experience of advanced 5G features.

"As Taiwan Mobile is finalizing the construction of 5G SA framework, we will also provide our corporate clients with dedicated 5G cell towers in conjunction with the company's core network services, working hand in hand with them to develop a vertical application of 5G related services," said Taiwan Mobile Chief Enterprise Business Officer C.
