HL County Gov.’s Int'l Exchange Lecture Hall Welcomes Renowned Artist Rhydian Vaughan for a Conversation with the World Through Art

發稿時間:2025/06/09 16:59:15

(中央社訊息服務20250609 16:59:15)To foster an internationally friendly environment and promote cultural diversity and inclusiveness, the Hualien County Government is continuing its well-received “International Exchange Lecture Hall” from last year. This year’s first event will be held on Sunday, July 13, at 2:00 PM in the Hualien County Government Auditorium. The forum invites internationally recognized film and music artist Rhydian Vaughan to share how he uses art as a cross-cultural language to transcend language barriers and engage in dialogue with the world. The county government hopes that by sharing the experiences of creators with a global perspective, the event will inspire local youth and artists to take their first steps onto the international stage.

Rhydian Vaughan is of British-Taiwanese heritage and spent his childhood in France, the UK, and Taiwan. He later attended East 15 Acting School at the University of Essex in the UK, majoring in stage combat. Widely known for his acting roles in films such as Winds of September, Monga, GF*BF, he has in recent years also ventured into music creation and interdisciplinary collaborations. His multicultural background enables him to bring deep emotional resonance and a unique international perspective to his performances.

"A Performer’s World Blueprint: From Taiwan to the World"

The theme of the lecture is “A Performer’s World Blueprint: From Taiwan to the World”, and it combines a talk with an improvisational workshop. Vaughan will share his cultural experiences across different countries, his journey of international development, and his reflections on cultural communication in the digital age, encouraging Hualien’s performing artists to take the first step beyond their local stage. The second half of the event, “Sensory Awareness and Improvisational Experience,” will be led by Vaughan himself. Participants will explore non-verbal expression and artistic creation through physical movement, tone, and imagination in guided improvisational scenarios.

Hualien is home to rich mountain and ocean resources as well as a diverse tapestry of cultures, which has long nurtured internationally recognized performing arts creators and groups, such as Formosa Indigenous Dance Foundation of Culture and Arts, TAI Body Theatre, Elug Art Corner, and Alfis Culture and Arts Group. These groups use performing arts as a bridge to engage in international dialogue, showcasing the creativity and global potential of Hualien’s multicultural identity.

Seats for the lecture are limited—early registration is encouraged! (https://reurl.cc/RYMb1Z).
