Yunlin County Government leads agricultural sector in ‘Golden Village’ benchmarking and Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo to broaden global horizons
(中央社訊息服務20251020 11:12:18)To promote the sustainable transformation of Yunlin’s agriculture, the Yunlin County Government launched the “Yunlin County Sustainable Agriculture Development Promotion Plan—Asia-Pacific Sustainable Vision and Golden Village Practice Benchmarking Learning” on Sept. 11 and 12. The event brought county agricultural sites to the Lixiping Leisure Agriculture Area, a “Golden Village” in Miaoli County, for benchmarking. In addition, these agricultural operators also took part in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo. Through domestic and international exchanges of experience, the event expanded global perspectives and infused sustainable energy into Yunlin’s agriculture.
The first day of the trip included a visit to the Lixiping Leisure Agriculture Area, where participants gained a deeper understanding of how the region integrates nature education, agricultural experiences, and diverse leisure farm operations, demonstrating a model of integrated agriculture, ecology, and daily life, making it a national Golden Village. The trip aims to exchange experiences on local revitalization, community co-governance, and the development of diverse agricultural values, providing practical insights for Yunlin’s agricultural sector and serving as a valuable reference for future transformation.
The Lixiping case study also demonstrated to participants that rural development is not simply about upgrading a single industry; rather, it involves fostering local culture, integrating industries, and implementing environmental sustainability to forge a new rural landscape where “people and land thrive together.” This trip also hopes to inspire innovative thinking within Yunlin’s agricultural sector, moving from traditional agriculture to a diversified development model that integrates education, tourism, and ecological value, injecting new momentum into local revitalization.
The next day, the participants traveled to Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 to attend the 2025 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo, where they learned about the latest trends and developments in international sustainable agriculture. The expo focused on topics such as carbon reduction technologies, the circular economy, smart agriculture, and green supply chains. The Yunlin County Government hopes to help the county’s agricultural sector gain access to cutting-edge technologies and international case studies, thereby enhancing its global perspective and competitiveness. The government also arranged for agricultural sectors to share experiences and exchange ideas with experts, encouraging them to consider how to internalize the results of benchmarking into local action plans, further leveraging central resources and cross-sector collaboration to forge a new model of sustainable agriculture characterized by “local implementation and global integration.”
County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) stated that Yunlin, as a key agricultural production base in Taiwan, must not only pursue high yields but also consider soil health, environmental sustainability, and rural prosperity. In the face of extreme climate change and demographic shifts, only by incorporating sustainable concepts and practicing green transformation can we safeguard the fundamentals of agriculture and ensure opportunities for continued farming and development for the next generation.
The Yunlin County Governmen’s Department of Agriculture noted that this benchmarking initiative not only allows the community to witness national-level model sustainable practices, but also aligns Yunlin agriculture with international trends, further enhancing community awareness and practical energy for sustainable agriculture, and jointly creating a new agricultural era of “sustainability, wisdom, and shared prosperity.”
