County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) attended the ceremony to commend 172 people who have made remarkable contributions to agriculture and promotion work. She specially awarded 3 national “Top Ten Outstanding Farmers” and one national model farmer to affirm their outstanding performance. She thanked all farmers for their hard work, who protect the land and food with their own hands and combine smart technology to make Yunlin agriculture sustainable.
County Magistrate Chang stated that farmers are Yunlin’s most valuable asset. Their hard work has nurtured this fertile land and is the greatest driving force behind Yunlin’s continued progress. Promoting sustainable agricultural development and protecting farmers has always been the mission of the Yunlin County Government. Faced with extreme weather conditions and the impact of current high international tariffs, Yunlin County is actively developing and implementing contingency measures to protect its agricultural, fishery, and livestock industries.
County Magistrate Chang Li-shan emphasized that young farmers are crucial for sustainable agricultural development. In addition to honoring the Top Ten Outstanding Farmers and National Model Farmers, the county also recognized farmers’ associations in townships and cities, as well as individuals who have made outstanding contributions to agricultural promotion. She expressed gratitude to the Yunlin County Farmers’ Association and its various township and city counterparts for not only serving as leaders in agriculture and driving the marketing and promotion of agricultural products, but also for their support for farmers, helping young farmers improve their agricultural skills and solve problems. She emphasized that the county government will continue to invest resources to promote smart and quality agriculture, strengthen agricultural product branding and market development, and work together to build a new Yunlin that prioritizes agriculture, commerce, and technology.
Lin Hong-chun (林鴻鈞), Chairman of the Yunlin County Farmers’ Association, stated that Yunlin County’s agricultural output value has ranked first in the nation for the six consecutive years, exceeding NT$93.6 billion. This is the result of the joint efforts of all farmers. He also mentioned that in the face of challenges from climate change and international developments, the association is actively promoting smart agriculture transformation, expanding export markets, and increasing the visibility of agricultural products through exhibitions, injecting new momentum into Yunlin’s agriculture.
Chen Chih-yang (陳志揚), Secretary General of the Yunlin County Farmers’ Association, stated that commendation ceremony is not only a recognition of our farmers but also a showcase of Yunlin’s agricultural strength. He specifically noted that the Yunlin County Farmers’ Association received the first “Yunlin County Outstanding Contribution to Food and Agriculture Education Award” in the Corporate Organization category. He stated that the association will continue to deepen its promotion of food and agriculture education, cultivating more young people who appreciate the land and love agriculture, ensuring the continuation of agricultural culture and moving towards a sustainable future.
Wei Sheng-de (魏勝德), Director of the County Government’s Department of Agriculture, noted that agriculture is the foundation of the nation, and Yunlin County is Taiwan’s largest agricultural county. Recognizing outstanding farmers on Farmers’ Day is of great significance. Yunlin County not only ensures food self-sufficiency but also provides high-quality, safe agricultural products to consumers throughout Taiwan. Through this Farmers’ Day recognition, we hope to bring the outstanding performance of Yunlin County farmers to the attention of our fellow citizens nationwide.
