(中央社訊息服務20260326 18:36:01)National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) on March 20 announced its 2026 Distinguished Alumni, honoring six individuals whose achievements span business, public service, maritime technology, music, and public health.

The honorees—Kee Ong (王其勳), Ryan Lee (李俊廣), Guo-Xian Lin (林國顯), Shwu-Jing Chang (張淑淨), Vintz Huang (黃國倫), and Chen-Chang Yang (楊振昌)—represent a diverse spectrum of leadership and innovation, reflecting NYCU’s long-standing commitment to interdisciplinary education and societal impact.

At the ceremony, NYCU President Chi-Hung Lin (center) raises a symbolic oar, with a backdrop of flying fish evoking the six awardees (from left: Shwu-Jing Chang, Chen-Chang Yang, Guo-Xian Lin, Ryan Lee, Kee Ong, and Vintz Huang). Comparing them to flying fish that rise above the surface at defining moments, Lin noted that while their paths differ, “they share the same point of departure—NYCU.”

Kee Ong, CEO of Synnex Technology International Corporation, has spent more than two decades expanding the company’s footprint in Australia and New Zealand, strengthening its position in the Asia-Pacific ICT and semiconductor distribution market.

Guo-Xian Lin, Taiwan’s Vice Minister of Transportation and Communications, has dedicated over 30 years to public service. His leadership has been central to major infrastructure developments, including advancing the long-delayed Terminal 3 project at Taoyuan International Airport.

Ryan Lee, founder of Taiwan’s largest pet retail chain, “Pet Park,” has built a career spanning music production, digital platforms, and retail entrepreneurship, demonstrating the power of interdisciplinary thinking.

Professor Shwu-Jing Chang of National Taiwan Ocean University has led key advancements in maritime safety and digital navigation, including Taiwan’s Electronic Navigational Chart system and satellite-based rescue technologies.

Renowned Mandopop producer and songwriter Vintz Huang has created widely recognized works for artists including Faye Wong and Jacky Cheung, and has also composed "Beyond," a commemorative song marking NYCU’s merger.

Chen-Chang Yang, a leading toxicology expert at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, has played a key role in public health communication during major food safety incidents and poisonings, helping shape national crisis response.

Beyond honoring distinguished individuals, this year’s ceremony served as a showcase of NYCU’s evolving innovation ecosystem—where academia, industry, and media converge to create new forms of storytelling.

Held in a virtual production studio powered by advanced LED technology, the event was co-developed by NYCU’s College of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences in collaboration with industry partners Cyans LED Virtual Studio and Formosa TV. The ceremony was designed and executed by a student-led team, integrating artificial intelligence with virtual production technologies to transform the venue into a symbolic ocean of exploration.

This cross-sector collaboration reflects NYCU’s “NYCU 2.0” vision—bridging engineering, humanities, and real-world applications to create immersive, future-ready experiences.

Under the theme “Youth × Time,” the ceremony framed youth not as an age, but as an enduring force—defined by resilience, curiosity, and the courage to navigate uncertainty. Visual elements such as flying fish and seafaring vessels illustrated movement, discovery, and the continuity of journeys across generations.

The 2026 Distinguished Alumni Awards highlight more than individual achievement—they represent a shared ethos of persistence, exploration, and societal contribution.

“As we journey forward,” Lin said, “NYCU will continue to cultivate talents who are ready to set sail and take on new challenges.”

In a rapidly changing world, their stories serve as a reminder: youth is not fleeting—it is a mindset that endures and keeps moving forward.
