“See Hualien Through Global Eyes” International Short Video Workshop Invites Local and International Youth to Tell Hualien’s Stories
(中央社訊息服務20260504 15:22:47)Supported by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and commissioned by the Hualien County Government, Hualien Echo Integrated Marketing Co., Ltd. is organizing the “See Hualien Through Global Eyes” International Short Video Workshop. This initiative invites international students, foreign residents, and local students to participate in a hands-on digital storytelling experience. Hualien County Mayor Hsu Chen-Wei emphasized that international residents serve as the most authentic witnesses to life in the county and act as its most persuasive ambassadors. Through this workshop and the subsequent video contest, the county government aims to showcase Hualien through the unique lenses of these international voices, with the goal of inspiring global travelers to visit.
The workshop is designed around two main themes that align with the “Hualien Through the World’s Eyes” short video contest. The first theme, “Wow, Hualien!”, invites participants to act as on-location hosts, exploring the county’s natural landscapes, local culture, and everyday life to capture its unique charm. The second theme, “Hualien Life Hacks!”, encourages participants to adopt the perspective of an international resident to share practical tips, highlighting the convenience and accessibility of Hualien as an international-friendly city. Through guided discussions, participants will brainstorm video topics ranging from daily routines and local cuisine to festival culture, language communication, and transportation, helping each student identify and share their own unique Hualien story.
This two-day intensive workshop begins on the first day with hands-on filming practice, where participants will develop scripts and storyboards in the morning before heading out to shoot on location in the afternoon. The second day focuses on the editing process, guiding students from footage organization to the final cut, culminating in a screening of the completed works. Once the projects are finished, participants are encouraged to submit their videos via the online registration system to the “See Hualien Through Global Eyes” international short video contest, where the Gold Award offers a top prize of NT$35,000.
The workshop will be hosted at the Tzu Chi University Jianguo Campus and is limited to 40 participants. Registration is available online on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to international students and foreign residents.
