Hualien launches 2026 Bilingual Service Program; applications open May 11–25

(中央社訊息服務20260504 15:24:43)To better accommodate the influx of international visitors expected this year, the Hualien County Government has announced the “2026 Bilingual Service Enhancement Program for Local Businesses.” Applications will be accepted from May 11 (Monday) through 5:00 p.m. on May 25 (Monday), 2026. The county aims to recruit 20 local businesses in the food and beverage, hospitality, and retail sectors to receive comprehensive, one-on-one consulting from a professional team. Interested businesses are encouraged to apply early, as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.

Hualien is set to host two major international sporting events this year: the 2026 IDBF Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) and the 2026 International Children’s Games (ICG). Recognizing the need to provide a seamless experience for international guests, the County Government is prioritizing “international-friendly” upgrades. Through this program, participating businesses will receive specialized guidance on developing bilingual signage, menus, service manuals, and promotional materials—essential tools for effectively engaging with foreign travelers and establishing Hualien as an internationally welcoming destination.

Once selected, businesses will consult with a professional team to tailor translation, design, and production services to their unique requirements. Participants will also be included in the County Government’s “International-Friendly Business” promotional directory, helping to increase their visibility and overall market reach.

To be eligible, applicants must hold a valid business registration, operating permit, or equivalent certification, with each business operator limited to a single application.
